Dr. Michael Stewart

Emeritus

Dr. Michael Stewart came to Atlanta in 1969 to attend Emory University’s School of Dentistry. He went on to complete advanced training in both pediatric dentistry and orthodontics.

He later served as an Assistant Professor at Emory, practiced in the plastic and reconstructive surgery section of the Emory Clinic, and became Director of Orthodontics at the Center for Craniofacial Disorders at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital. Dr. Stewart is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

Leadership

Dr. Stewart is recognized as a national leader in advanced diagnostic and treatment techniques. For years, he has shared his mastery of computerized orthodontic diagnosis and currently serves on the advisory boards of numerous technology-based orthodontic manufacturers and service providers. Dr. Stewart was an original member of Align Technology’s Alpha Group and Speaker’s Bureau. He and his wife, Dr. Melisa Rathburn, have presented on a national level numerous advanced programs on the application and management of the Invisalign® technique.

Technology

SureSmile® is a new technology-based solution that provides orthodontic patients with a triad of unique benefits: shorter treatment times with fewer appointments, less discomfort, and better treatment outcomes. Dr. Stewart is a leader in the use of SureSmile and is passionately committed to the treatment excellence it provides. He serves on the company’s advisory board and lectures frequently on the use of this exciting technology.

Family

Together, Drs. Stewart and Rathburn have six children, three of whom have completed graduate studies in various disciplines of public service. Their interests include family adventure travel, skiing, and perpetual home remodeling.
